To kick off Day 1 of the 25 Days of Type Happy Holiday Challenge, here is something easy and quick to do. Since it is Cyber Monday, I figured many people would be sitting inside attached to their computers or working. So today’s challenge is to play your favorite holiday song and perform as many bicycle sit-ups as you can to the length of the song. I picked Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” song and did 403 bicycles!
Good luck and most importantly have fun!
How to do a Bicycle Sit-up:
1. Lie on your back, hands behind head, legs off the ground and bent
2. Bring your right elbow to your left knee
3. Switch and bring your left elbow to your right knee
4. Leg not being used should be straight and off the ground with toe pointed
5. Tighten your core in order to bring your elbow all the way to your knee
6. Core should stay engaged and keep alternating your legs and elbows
November is National Diabetes Awareness Month! I’m spending this time brainstorming on some great new fitness tips, inspirations, and recipes specifically for this special month. I am also actively recruiting my friends and family in joining me to register for JDRF’s Diabetes Walk to Cure on November 9th. I very excited to be a part of such a great organization to help spread Diabetic awareness and to raise money for that cure!! This is the time to rep that diabetic blue color and educate people on this disease.
Waking up in the middle of the night with a low blood sugar can be the worst, but I’m thankful that I am able to wake up to take care of it. Glucose saves lives. Just means I need to lighten up on my insulin units especially on those days after a long workout. Or take none at all if my numbers are still in good range. Using no fast acting nor slow acting insulin is my main goal while still maintaing a good blood sugar range naturally.
Some days we may feel alone and different because we have t1d. We are a rare breed so coming together, helping each other, connecting, and standing together makes us strong. T1D is what makes us each unique!
There is a BIG difference between Type 1 and Type 2! People need to get that straight! Type 1 is an autoimmune disease, NOT from poor diet or lack of exercise!☀️ Create awareness! Diabetes is one of the top 3 most common diseases and it amazing how uneducated many people are about it. There are two different types.. Not every diabetic is Type 2. We can eat whatever we want. Education is a step towards raising awareness~
