Happy Thanksgiving! This quote speaks millions for me. Type 1 diabetes is the biggest battle that I have ever had to deal with and it sucks. However, without it, I would of never discovered the strength and courage that I have inside myself. Having Type 1 has pushed me to become the person that I have always wanted to be and showed me what I truly want in life. I’m thankful for this blessing in disguise. So much of my gratitude goes to all the amazing Type 1s that I have met in this community and for everyone continuing to inspire me everyday. It makes me so happy to see so many other amazing diabetics doing fantastic things in life. I am unbelievably thankful for my wonderful family & friends who constantly support me and help me through this crazy journey. So much to be thankful for this year and it all goes out to you all, diabetics, nondiabetics, friends, family, and the science that is getting us one step closer to a cure.
It all starts with positivity. Each morning before getting out of bed, think of 3 things that you are thankful for that has helped you become the strong person that you are today. With a positive mind, comes a positive life.
Mine are: 1. My amazing support system of my friends and family. 2. Believe it or not, I’m thankful for my Type 1, it has become a big part of me and it helps me prove to myself everyday how strong I really am. 3. The life I have been given to be able to try to reach my goals, make mistakes, and turn it into a positive learning experience.
