Visiting Page, AZ
When most people think of Arizona, I mostly think of- Phoenix, Scottsdale, and the Grand Canyon.. But boy, I quickly learned that I am missing a beautiful place that now puts Page on the map!
An easy 4 hour drive from Phoenix, Page, Arizona is a must-see destination! With unbelievable sights all around, endless outdoor activities, and small town feel, this place is hidden gem. From Phoenix we took the I-17 highway north to Flagstaff where we stopped for lunch and walked around downtown Flagstaff to stretch our legs. Then continued on the US-89 North straight into Page.
Check out my list of great hotel accommodations, food spots and activities to do while in Page:
Accommodations:
We stayed at the Hyatt Place Page/Lake Powell for it’s perfect location and views. It is walkable distance to downtown Page and such a close drive to all of the outdoor attractions. I loved waking up in the mornings to go on a walk to a local coffee shop in town.
There is also a Walmart Supercenter located less than 5 minutes down the street from the hotel which was so perfect because I forgot a phone charger, low snacks, and chapstick- so that was literally a lifesaver!
The first things I noticed checking into the hotel was the clean lobby decorated with beautiful Arizona inspired artwork, and it had a cute stone fireplace and lounge area to relax!
We were greeted with the nicest staff members insuring help with anything! They even went above and beyond to make sure our room was equipped with a mini fridge so that we had a place to store our insulin while we traveled. Our hotel room had a big window looking straight out to the non-obstructed scenery where we could watch the beautiful sunrise/sunsets each day. Our comfy double queen bedroom had nice lounge area with a couch, TV, closet, and desk.
Staying at this hotel included complimentary wifi, parking, and breakfast- so that’s definitely a perk!
During the evenings, we often found ourselves sitting in the outdoor patio, located next to the pool, just outside from the lobby. It was a beautiful patio with comfortable couches, chairs, and tables. It even had fire pits to sit next to while enjoying an evening cocktail from the lobby bar. It had the best extensive views looking down towards all of Page. This was THE spot for enjoying the sunsets!
Straight out from the patio, there is a dirt pathway that leads you to a very cool wooden picture frame art installation which makes for A MUST for a photo moment! The sign above it reads, “Somewhere on your journey don’t forget to turn around and enjoy the view.” And now it is one of my favorite quotes!
Food:
Here is a list of some great food spots we were able to check out:
Breakfast/Coffee:
Hyatt Place Page/Lake Powell hotel- they have a great complimentary breakfast. You can choose anything from eggs and bacon to cereal to waffles and fruit!
Ranch House Grille- Your perfect classic diner food style breakfast
Hot N Sweet Coffee and Donut Shop- We met the owner of this cute little local shop. He was so friendly and you can just tell he loves what he does! All the donuts are made in-house by scratch with freshly brewed Italian coffee!
Starbucks (in case you love your Starbucks, the hotel actually brews fresh Starbucks drinks at the lobby bar)
LP Espresso- cutest local coffee shop I stumbled upon, and I’m so glad I did!
Lunch/Dinner:
Big John’s Texas BBQ
RD’s Drive-In- A classic for the town of Page. A simple dive in with SO much on the menu! Anything from Mexican to American! And the best milkshakes!
Birdhouse
Dam Bar and Grille
Hyatt Place Page/Lake Powell hotel- the lobby restaurant serves a full menu. Great drinks, appetizers, main courses, and desserts (I got roasted brussel sprouts for an appetizer and pesto chicken pasta for dinner and it was absolutely delicious!)
Activities:
There are so many things to do Page, you won’t have a boring day! Whether you like hanging at a lake, hiking, off-roading, kayaking, or just simply enjoying the views.. Page has it all:
Stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking on Lake Powell to Antelope Canyon (20 minutes from hotel)
The hotel makes it so easy to book an excursion for the day. They have a great partnership with a local adventure company called Big Orange Jeeps that have many activities to choose from. We booked stand-up paddle board rentals for the day. They delivered the boards right to the hotel to use for the day and explained to us directions on how to use them. You can choose to have them already inflated ready to go or deflated so that you can fit it in your car and do it yourself.
We headed to Lake Powell Antelope Point Marina where there is a $25 vehicle entrance fee. We launched our SUPs at the Antelope Point Marina launch and there was a free parking lot for us to park while we adventured there.
We paddled over to Antelope Canyon which was breaktaking! I’ve been to many lakes, but this one is definitely a gorgeous one.
It is very easy to get to from the water: From the Antelope Point Marina launch ramp, you go to the left and then you stay to the left until you see an opening of the canyon on your left (there will be a sign on the water too). Apparently you can paddle all the way up the canyon to the end where you can then go by foot to hike through the famous Antelope Canyon.
Book a boat day on Lake Powell
Off-roading adventures (5 minutes from hotel)
Another great adventure partnership the hotel has is with Epic Adventure Rides where we were able to book an off-roading UTV ride! And it was definitely a highlight! While you ride on dirt roads, you are surrounded by beautiful scenery. Our tour guide took us all around the area stopping at beaufuil photo ops and teaching us about the history and geology of Page’s beautiful landscape. On our UTV ride, it even started to pour down rain and we STILL absolutely loved it and had such a great time laughing the whole way!
Horseshoe Bend (10 minutes from hotel)
We of course had to go see the famous Horseshoe Bend. There is a $10 vehicle entrance fee with free parking and restrooms located at the parking lot. To get to Horseshoe Bend, it is an easy 15 minute walk (one way) on a flat dirt pathway to get there. It is about 1.5 miles round-trip. Once you get to end you will see the grand Horseshoe Bend (where the river cuts into the canyon like a horseshoe shape). It was absolutely breathtaking and worth it!
Walking tour through the famous Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon slot canyons
Helicopter ride overlooking the famous Tower Butte
Glen Canyon Dam outlook
A great walk on the dam across the Colorado River with beautiful views!
Lots of other hikes
We didn’t have enough time to try out other hiking trails, but there are so many in the area that looked amazing to me: Toadstools Trailhead, Hanging Garden Trail, and many more!
Other day trip destinations:
Zion, Bryce, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley
Page, Arizona is such a special place and I can’t wait to come back to visit again soon!
